Con aguas altas, líneas de flote. High water, floating lines

 El lunes 15 floté junto a Bruce Jones y Pierre Galin el río Collon Curá desde el Puente de la Rinconada a Balsa Vieja. Ambos pescadores viven en Seattle, pescan asiduamente en USA y diferentes partes del mundo como nuestra Patagonia y  Nueva Zelandia. Estan acostumbrados a pescar con líneas de flote, ninfas y secas. Era un desafío interesante pescar de esa manera ese día, ya que el río se presenta rápido y con aguas profundas aún, por lo que en la teoría lo indicado era pescar con líneas de hundimiento.
Bruce pescó casi todo el día con streamers y Pierre con atractoras. A los 20 minutos de comenzar la flotada Pierre clavó su primer arco iris que le cortó el tippet a los pocos segundos.

De alli en más los piques se fueron dando con cierta continuidad obteniendo alrededor de 13 truchas cada uno entre arco iris y marrones. 

 

Los datos a tener en cuenta para pescar con estas condiciones del río: 
    Los lanzamientos deben ser muy precisos "entre los palos" de la orilla, alli se encuentran seguramente las grandes marrones y los movimientos rápidos de la línea darán piques en los primeros segundos en los cuales la mosca entra en el agua. De esta manera aún con líneas de flote se puede pescar.
    Si se usan streamers colocar tippet en relación con los anzuelos usados (entre 0x y 1x) para aguantar los peces y poder también desenganchar las moscas de los palos.
    Los streamers deben ser lastrados y grandes pero deben guardar relación con la caña usada.
    Mantener el bote cerca de los lugares de pesca para que los casteos sean de alrededor de 12 metros. De esta manera con 1 sólo falso cast pueden lanzar y así colocar más tiros aún cuando el bote es llevado por la correntada en forma rápida.
    Si se usan atractoras que sean grandes para que al moverlas empujen mucha agua y produzcan chapoteos en el agua.

November 15, monday. I floated with Bruce Jones and Pierre Galin, Collon Curá river from Puente de la Rinconada to Balsa Vieja. Both fishermen live in Seattle, fishing at USA and different places of the world like our Patagonia and New Zealand.  They use to use floating lines with dry flies and nymphs. It was an interesting challenge fishing in that way, since the river was running fast and has high water yet. In these cases the theory indicates fishing with sinking lines.
Bruce used streammers (heavies!!)  and Pierre big attractor dry flies. 20 minutes later we start floating, Pierre caugth his first rainbow, bu it cut his tippet in qa few seconds. (remember: fish in Patagonia are very strong!!)
 They were caugthing many trout and at the end of the day they caugth 20-25 trout between rainbow and brown.

The information to bearing in mind to go fishing with these conditions of the river:
   The cast must be very precise " between the sticks " of the bankm where the big brown are waitng food. The fast strip on the line will give us fish in a few seconds, when the fly enters the water. Thus, still with floating lines you can fishing.
    To use tippet in relation with the streamers that You are using (between 0x and 1x). This way you will not lose fish for courts in the tippet and you will be able to unhook the fishhooks of the branches.
    The streamers must be weighed and big but they must keep relation with the rod.
    Keep the boat near the bank of the river in order that the cast are of about 12 meters.
Thus you can cast more times still when the boat is taken by the current in fast way
   If you used atractor flies, it must be big to push many water.

With high waters. Con aguas altas.

Como es habitual para esta época, los ríos de la zona de San Martín de los Andes y Junín de los Andes, se encuentran con mucha agua y muy rápidos.
Realizamos algunas flotadas con otros guías y amigos a los ríos aluminé, collon curá y chimehuin.

El río aluminé-collon curá lo floté en dos días con campamento desde el Malleo hasta Balsa Vieja.

Pescando con lineas de fondo y streamers obtuvimos lindas marrones y fuertes arco iris y se destacó una enorme perca que sacó Daniel!
Pescamos vadeando y flotando alguno de los canales que recorren el río y allí los resultados fueron buenos.

Al río Aluminé también lo flotamos desde el encuentro del río Catan Lil a Rinconada. Fuimos un día despues de una tormenta y luego de pescar un par de horas en donde sacamos algunas arco iris gordas, el agua se puso marrón y se terminó la pesca.

En otra oportunidad (invitado por Gustavo Hibaun amigo y guía local) flotamos el collón curá  desde Balsa Vieja hasta aguas abajo de Collon Curá lodge.

Los muchachos pescaron con líneas de fondo (teeny 200) y yo con línea de flote.
Obtuvimos varias lindas marrones y algunas arco iris, destacándose la que clavó Federico Ovejero (otro amigo y colega local).

El Chimehuin lo flotamos desde la ciudad de Junin de los Andes hasta la Curva del manzano.
Fueron dos o tres horas pescando con Adrian Osso (otro amigo y colega local) y Esteban Urban. Obtuvimos algunas arco iris y marrones, ellos usando líneas de fondo y yo atractoras y línea de flote.

El agua corre rápido y es difícil aún encontrar aguas más lentas para hacer trabajar bien las moscas. Es imprescindible poder colocar las moscas entre los "palos" para poder obtener las buenas marrones del río. Buenos y precisos lanzamientos se necesitan en esta época.

Since it happens always at this moment of the season, the rivers run with great water and fastly in the zone of St Martin of the Andes and Junín of the Andes.
We realize some floated with other guides and friends in the rivers aluminé, collón curá and chimehuin.

We were floating  for two days with camp the river aluminé-collón curá. We went out from the river Malleo and finish the trip in Bassa Vieja. 

Going fishing with sinking lines and streamers. We caught  pretty brown and strong rainbow and Daniel caught an enormous perch! 

We go fishing wading and floating someone of the channels in the river and there the results were good.

We were floating the Aluminé river from the joing of the Catan Lil river to Rinconada.  We went one day after a storm and after fishing a couple of hours when we caught some fat rainbow, the water change on dirty and brown and the fishing finished.

Days before we were floating the Collón Curá (guest for Gustavo Hibaun, friend and local guide) from  Balsa Vieja to downstream Cllon Curá lodge.

 The guys were fishing with sinking lines (teeny 200) and me withfloating  lines.
 We caugth many pretty brown and some rainbow. The best fish: a big brown which caugth Federico Ovejero (another friend and local colleague).

We were floating Chimehuin river from Junin de los Andes to the Curva del Manzano. We were fishing with Adrian Osso (another friend and local colleague) and Esteban Urban for three hours.

We caugth some rainbow and brown. They using sinking lines and I used big atractors and floating lines.

The water runs fast and its difficult still to find waters slower to make work well the flies. 

It is indispensable to be able to cast the flies between the "sticks" to cath good fish .

Good and precise cast need at this time.

Abriendo la temporada en el malleo. Starting season at malleo river

El Martes 2 de Noviembre último en horas de la tarde, fuimos con Esteban Urban (futuro guía de pesca) al río Malleo.

Elegimos pescar en la zona de canales aguas arriba del puente sobre la ruta.
Con líneas de flote, ninfas y secas de diferentes tamaños, buscamos los canales con menos velocidad en la corriente del agua.

En un par de horas de caminata y pesca encontramos unos pocos lugares aptos en donde capturamos unas lindas arco iris usando ninfas. Luego vimos unos peces comiendo en superficie en donde Esteban logró una buena captura.
Fue un lindo comienzo de la temporada.




November 2, Tuesday in the afternoon.

I went with Esteban Urban  (in a few days new fly fishing guide) to Malleo river. We chose upper malleo, 3 km over the first bridge. We used floating lines, dries flies and nymphs in diferents sizes. We looking for the channels with slower water. We were walking for two hours and we found some place where we caught nices rainbows. Then we saw a couple of trout eating on the surface and Esteban caugth one of them.

It was a nice starting season.
